Cervelli was hit in the head with a pitch today, got a concussion.

Presumably it's not serious enough that he'd miss any part of the season, but it did have me wondering, who's next in line for the backup catchers job?

Both Cashman and Girardi suggested that Mike Rivera would be next in line after Cervelli, which doesn't sound particularly good if Cervelli needs to miss time.

I really don't think we have to worry about Fransico. Worse comes to worse if he misses time and Rivera doesn't pan out, check to see if there's a cheapo old guy looking for a team.

One of the catchers signed to a minor league deal will probably opt out if they don't make an opening day roster. Like one of the 23482394 catchers the Mets signed. Or Sal Fasano.

Yeah, I'm not worried, although this is his second concussion in a few months. Was just curious.

Cervelli seems like a "gamer".
