I'm wondering what, besides Mauer, would possibly be available if we wanted to trade one of Hughes or Joba to fill their closers role?
I would love to give them a Halladay type package for Mauer and extend him. Then tell Jorge you're backup/DH, deal with it. -------------------- ""To stare down a big league pitcher. If they are so dumb as to trade Mauer because a reliever got hurt and in doing so relegate a young potential starter to the bullpen, then there isn't much hope for Minnesota, now or anytime soon.

Crow's not saying it's just for a reliever. He's saying package a ton of talent to get somebody he wants. Who knows, if they got Phil or Joba they might try another starter in the pen.

It's moreso because Mauer is a free agent and they may trade him anyway. He's a player that's probably gonna get 22-24m
