Rotoworld:

According to CBSSports.com, the A's have agreed to terms with right-hander Ben Sheets on a one-year contract worth around $8 million.
CBS' Danny Knobler hears that Sheets has already passed his physical and a deal will be announced Tuesday afternoon. The 31-year-old righty missed all of 2009 due to elbow surgery but he was impressive in a throwing session last week and carries a 3.72 career ERA. He'll surely enjoy reestablishing his value in the spacious confines of Oakland's home ballpark.

Good signing by the A's, but he'll most likely be trade before the deadline. Another year of promising young rotation, but their line up is "average" at best.

That's a shit load of money to give to a guy that didn't throw a pitch in 2009.

It's a good risk for the A's since it is such a short deal though. I'm looking forward to seeing if he can bounce back.

Good point Twista. I'm looking forward to that too, I like watching the A's. Their division seems tougher this year with the M's and Rangers making good moves.

All of a sudden the Angels look like the worst team by a large margin. The Rangers and Mariners could both be quite dangerous next season. Even with their success last year, the Rangers have a LOADED farm system that is going to pay dividends eventually. Also, the Mariners were a great pitching and defensive team last year. If they can get any type of hitting then they're going to be good. Cliff Lee is going to be tremendous in that city and in that ballpark. He's my early favorite for Cy Young.

That's all true. The top of the Mariners line up is going to be a pain in the ass with Ichiro and Figgins leading off. And they just added Garko, he can be a threat.

It's good he can audition with a nothing team like the A's so the Yankees know what they're going to get when they sign him.

False

If he pitches poorly they won't want him. If he pitches well he'll expect a big contract in which case they should just go for Lee who has far less injury risk.

I agree with Kyle. If the Yankees are going to dip into FA pitching next year go with the proven commodity, because if Sheets post monster numbers he's going to want an insane deal.
