Eh, why it. Seems like its the cool thing to do. Lakers have gotten off to a good start at 6-3 despite a very tough schedule. Wins comming against the suns, rockets, jazz, Pistons, Bulls, and T-Wolves. Some pretty impressive wins in there. The bench has been huge. Odom is healthy and other guys have been stepping up to help Kobe. Last year they needed a monster game from Kobe to even beat average teams. Thats not the case this year. If they stay healthy they'll be a VERY dangerous team for anyone to face in the playoffs.

I'm not big into basketball at all, but for years I've always seemed to check the Lakers score each morning on SportsCenter. It seemed last year that if Kobe didn't show up, the Lakers had no chance of winning. Even games against pretty bad teams were a major struggle if Kobe didn't fare well. I guess that is rounding out now with Odem and what not.

Lakers and Magic made a trade sending Cook, and Evans to the Magic for Ariza. I think the trade is even. With V-Rad comming off the bench and shooting 50% from 3 point land that left no room for Cook and made him expendable. Evans was a good defender who could bring some energy and knock down the occasinal open shot. But I think Airza will fit in fine here.

And the Lakers followed up the day with a 134-114 beatdown of the Pacers improving their record to 7-3. Great start so far.

One thing I have to say about the Lakers, even though I don't like them, they've always been interesting to watch. I would watch the NBA playoffs during their dynasty days to see if anyone could take them down. I can't say the same for teams that win like the Spurs. They just bore the fuck outta me.

No doubt about it GO. I don't like the Lakers either but alot of that was out of pure jealousy. Just like I hated the Bulls back in the day because they'd win every year. When the Lakers had Shaq and Kobe, they were unbeatable, and you knew it. But you'd just hope that one year, they would finally get ousted. Shoot, I remember in.. what was it? 2004 I guess when they were eliminated by the Spurs (even though I HATE the Spurs) and I relished seeing Kobe and Derek Fisher cry. But it wasn't because I dislike them as players, or human beings, it's just that they finally lost!

Even now, I always root against the Lakers. I guess it's like fans who dislike the Yankees, even though New York hasn't won a championship since 2000, they're still seen as champions, the cream of the crop, the evil empire. That's how I view the Lakers.

They are not seen as the Champions. Amongst the cream of the crop, the evil empire? Yes.

Lakers have lost 3 straight. The fact that they're young is starting to come to the surface. Alot of guys have become inconsistent.

When are the Lakers gonna send Kobe to the City of Wind? The Bulls are in desperate need of #24.

BTW, Vic, I'm a big fan of 'The Shield', too. biggrin.gif

Bulls don't need him. They just need a big man down low who can score.

They need that too, but you'd be crazy to think the bulls wouldn't be ALOT better with Kobe.

Lakers beat the T-Wolves pretty easily tonight. Its been up and down, very inconsistent. Pretty much what you'd expect from a young team. But if this team was able to find a way to play well consistently then they'll be a force good enough to put a scare in the contenders.

I read somewhere that the main reason the Lakers made the deal for Ariza is that is freed up 6 million bucks in cap space. Can't complain about that. Lakers definitly need cap room.

Lakers beat the nuggets last night. I really like how the Lakers are working as a unit. But they MUST STOP turning the ball over. Way to many turnovers and the defense needs work, but other than that I like what I saw. We always play well against Denver who's loaded with talent but rarley works as a unit and plays no defense. Iverson was ridculous last night. Nothing you can do when a guys in the zone like THAT. Except match him on the other end. smile.gif

And the dunk Bynum through down off that pass from Kobe. I jumped outta my seat screaming...ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ariza isn't too bad himself though, he's going to benefit alot from hanging around Kobe.

As a Knick fan, Ariza has always been a fan favorite because of his talent.

Im looking forward to see how he does as a Laker.

Lakers tonight became only the 5th team all year to beat the spurs. Granted it was without Duncan and Parker but a wins a win and I'm just glad we get to play them now and take advantage of their injuries.

Lakers blew one against Golden State Friday night. Probably would have been different if Kobe didn't get hurt during the game. Baron Davis........FUCK you, you clutch motherfucker!!!

The refs must of had money on the cavs tonight. That was a completely bogus call. I don't like to blame the refs but they definity deserve blame tonight.
