I know its not the best idea, but what other options do we have on a day trip with 4 hours to see before heading to the game.

Save it with the pictures. Nobody wants to see you or your clone friends and slutty girlfriends and we've all seen the stadium enough. I'll be curious to read the recap because I want to know what it's like to be assraped by someone as big as CC.

I'll be curious to read the recap because I want to know what it's like to be assraped by someone as big as CC. Haven't decided whether or not I want to annoy you with the pictures. But this trip to NYC aside from the game was actually a lot better than the last. Im going to try and make this a twice a year thing. We left for NYC at 2:30am and were in Midtown by 6:45, parked a couple blocks from Times Square. Got some Starbucks and just sat on those chairs in TS for a while to take in the sights. Then at 8 the ladies got to shopping and we went all over the place for the next 4 hours. During the little shopping spree they went on, we quickly got a glimpse of the Today Show in action, we used a combo of cabs and the nike express to take us from 5th avenue to the ESB and then a little closer to SoHo, then back to Midtown. Finished up about 12:30, then got the car about quarter of 1. Thats when we raced through the traffic up the East Side towards to the South Bronx. As we got to the stadium, half of a street had barriers up with an arrow pointing. But the other side of the street was not blocked off so we kept driving (I'm talking about the area around the garage behind RCF). SO a cop races up to our car and yells "didn't see you the sign" and he was an ass, we pretended to be sorry and kept driving and what do you know, there were plenty of parking spots there, so we took one and went into the game (we had to wait a while cause gates didn't open till 2). Expected a lot of Red SOx fans there and there were. It seemed like everyone was in a split couple though, except for a few families full of Sox fans. Ironically, minutes after walking into the stadium we ran into someone who went to HS with all of us and is from the same city and also drove down early in the AM. Our seats were very good (Field Level 128), padded and all. Loved them. And the weather was literally perfect for baseball, could not have asked for a better day. Decided to walk all the way to the top of the stadium to see just how high it was, damn its colossal. Game was okay for a while, went up 2-0 after vmart went deep, it was nice to make some noise. Of course Lackey sucks, so we ended up losing. Stayed the entire game though. Ended up getting back here around 11:30, after staying up for 36 straight hours (those 5 hour energy drinks work). -------------------- ![]() "After reviewing the play, the Quarterbacks arm was going forward it is an incomplete pass ... 2nd and 10 on the Forty-Two" ![]() ![]() |

Awesome seats. The field level seats at YS will spoil you. It's not that the other seats are bad, it's just that they don't compare.
I was at the Sunday night game in the LF Terrace Sect 334. It was a fun game. My section was basically like a 60/40 split of Yankees and Red Sox fans. Oddly enough the one guy that annoyed me at the game was a Yankee fan. I was talking to a friend that CC might possibly opt out after next year to get more years and money. This guy I guess overheard me and decides to talk down to me and tell me "how an opt-out really works". He said if you opt out it means you are not allowed to return to the team. I kinda laughed at the guy and said um A-Rod, but he kept going on. But of course this same guy was with what seemed like his son and they wanted Berkman off the team before the game... a 3 for 4 game later and the guy is a Berkman fan. Go figure. Macky, I'm not sure how you feel about YS and Fenway, but I know this group of Red Sox fans sitting in the row in front of me kept talking about how much they wish the Red Sox got a new stadium. They kept saying it's cramped at Fenway and besides the history and the fact that they are Red Sox fans they'd much prefer a newer more modern stadium. |

They kept saying it's cramped at Fenway and besides the history and the fact that they are Red Sox fans they'd much prefer a newer more modern stadium. I couldn't imagine another park. I think the Yankees get an A for the New Yankee Stadium, what they replaced was one of the more culturally significant structures in the history of the world. So if they were going to replace it, it had to be something jaw dropping. And they achieved if not that, at least very close to it. I've been to the old YS three times (2005, 2005, 2006) and the New Yankee Stadium twice (2009, 2010). I liked the new one 10000x more. While I appreciated the history of YS, I obviously didn't have an emotional attachment. Fenway to me, is literally my favorite place on earth. I love almost everything about it, from its good points to its glaring flaws. When they were building the new garden, people around here (I was too young to remember but from what Im told) were unanimous in supporting it (even though the Bruins built one of the most uninteresting generic arenas in sports). When the Patriots built Gillette, fans were once again (myself included) unanimous in supporting it. If they ever decided to build a New Fenway, I'd say public opinion would be 70-30 against it, and the 70 against it, would riot. Their is such an attachment to it, I can't imagine losing it. That being said, if Red Sox ownership did it RIGHT, a New Fenway would be fascinating to see. Sorry dude Fenway sucks in my eyes now. I was a fan until I went to Wrigley but Fenway is a complete sell out of its history. If I had the emotional attachment you mentioned it might be different, but it's too renovated to really hold the same meaning as a place like Wrigley. Although they're going to ruin Wrigley soon enough.

I'm yet to sit field level at the new stadium. Sat in 223 for the playoffs but my other times I've sat in the bleachers but I also sat on top of the batters eye for Old Timer's Day last year.

I can see how you would think that, but some of those improvements had to be made.
Some of the things were for revenue purposes, and the pressure to win a championship was a huge monkey on the shoulders of any ownership for the Red Sox. Cubs fans just seem happy to be there and could care less if they lose for another 300 years. So in that regard, they needed to make Fenway more economically viable. And as I mentioned before some of the improvements had to be made. 9 years ago you could not walk around that park. You just couldn't and in an emergency it might take 45 minutes to empty the park, the concourses were so crammed together it was amazing the place could even function if a sell-out crowd showed up. Also the food stands were falling apart and the lack of bathrooms was absurd. Now you can still feel like your watching a baseball game in the same park that saw Babe Ruth, Foxx, Bobby D. Tris Speaker and Yaz play in it. You can feel like your watching a baseball game in the same park that your great great grandfather, and your great grandfather, grandfather, father. uncle and old cousins all saw a game in. But at the same time, you don't feel like the park has the safety and cleanliness of a park from those long gone generations. I do understand what you mean though, as far as the pimped out nature of the advertisements and so on takes a way a bit from it. Also you see Wrigley (very slowly) trending in that direction also. -------------------- ![]() "After reviewing the play, the Quarterbacks arm was going forward it is an incomplete pass ... 2nd and 10 on the Forty-Two" ![]() ![]() |

Wrigley is very very slowly evolving. They have no jumbotron. They have three small ribbon boards and that's it. Hell, they were up in arms when that Toyota sign went up in left field.

You mean to tell me none of you clowns will be there Saturday for the Macky-Meet up at the Stadium, pft. ![]() Love that pic. Looks like YS is fixing to dump some fans onto the playing field. The wife and were there, our first time at the new Stadium. Awesome. We always take Exit 6 and then left to park by the footbridge, which is now at least 5 times wider, with windows for proper ventilation, and has elevators at both ends, and a train or mass transit (train or subway) in it. If by useless you mean smart enough to not park in NYC, then yes. HAH. But we survived, due to our experience with past trips and yankees.com parking map. Looks like I made the news.
