I have to say Leno is a prick for even allowing this to happen. Just leave, retire, and give it up already and stop bitching because your show sucks. Good for conan for telling NBC to fuck off and not letting Leno have the 1135 slot back. Stern always gives Leno a ton of shit, calls him phony, etc. and now i see why.
Conan O'Brien will leave 'The Tonight Show' if Leno returns to NBC late night January 12, 2010 | 4:51 pm The host of NBC's "The Tonight Show" said in a statement today he would not move his show from 11:35 p.m. to 12:05 a.m. to make room for the network’s proposed move of Jay Leno from prime time back to late night, says our Company Town blog. (In the video above, some of Conan's other options, straight from the horse's mouth.) “So it has come to this: I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it. My staff and I have worked unbelievably hard and we are very proud of our contribution to the legacy of The Tonight Show. But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction.” (Read the full text of the statement, complete with spicy Conan wit, here.) A decision by O'Brien to leave "The Tonight Show" would probably allow NBC to return the show to Jay Leno and run it for a full hour. -------------------- ![]() |

Funnier, more genuine and he's consistently got the highest ratings. -------------------- ![]() "After reviewing the play, the Quarterbacks arm was going forward it is an incomplete pass ... 2nd and 10 on the Forty-Two" ![]() ![]() |

Conan has a fairly significant fanbase.
Leno also dropped his slot to pursue a prime time comedy show which failed miserably. He should just pack it in. -------------------- |

God damn, Howard Stern predicted all this would happen as soon as he heard Conan was going to take over for Jay, and Jay was going to take over the prime time spot.
Both failed pretty hard -- Jay especially, his reputation takes a hit undoubtedly. I'm a huge Conan fan btw. I've always thought he runs circles around Jay personally. Jay is a funny standup act but my god, his monologues are a train wreck. -------------------- ![]() |

Jay's okay but I never really thought he was that funny. Very overrated.
Conan's hilarious. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Leno only gets high ratings because the audience Conan is geared for does shit and doesn't watch TV at 11:30.

NBC forced him out because they were afraid Conan would jump to another network if he didn't eventually get the Tonight Show. There has to be a reason why Leno did "laps around" Letterman in the ratings for years and compared to Conan’s stint on the tonight show he is also doing "laps around" him. -------------------- ![]() "After reviewing the play, the Quarterbacks arm was going forward it is an incomplete pass ... 2nd and 10 on the Forty-Two" ![]() ![]() |

Then he decides he's not going to so he get the 10pm show because Conan is under contract for the tonight show, and now his show sucks and the ratings suck so he wants to go back to primetime. He's an ass hole, plain and simple. All he has to say is No and problem solved. He's an arrogant cock sucker and i hope he doesn't his time slot back or Conan goes right up against him on fox. -------------------- ![]() |

Why should Leno walk away when he's still able to draw his audience? Just because you prefer Conan doesn't mean Leno isn't better at Late Night. Leno did better business for NBC and if they want to put him back in that spot, tough. They have to pay their contract breach fees to Conan and just move on. Sucks for Conan, but that's life. Jay Leno still has a better audience.

We've seen it happen a number of times with athletes etc., but he's being a dick by throwing conan under the bus like this imo. -------------------- ![]() |

Conan's been cracking jokes on it all week, but Letterman and Kimmel are really killing Jay. Kimmel actually did it on Jay's show.
Letterman pretty much hates Jay. He and Johnny Carson both thought Letterman would be the successor to the Tonight Show before Jay took over instead. Carson's the one who told him to leave NBC. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Leno should go to a different network and compete with Conan at the same time slot. It would be the classy thing to do, since Conan and his staff moved from ny to do the tonight show.

Conan just keeps killing NBC, Letterman's killing Leno, lovin' it.
Meanwhile Leno says "Don't blame Conan!". Was someone blaming Conan? -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

The one thing I love about this.. Jay Leno is being KILLED over this. I just watched the video of Jimmy Kimmel hammer Jay Leno on Leno's show. Amazing stuff. Kimmel has balls.
Also, there have been rallies held around America in favor of Cano. Including this one here.
Also, good for Conan. He continues to bash NBC and Leno... here's some funny stuff from O'Brien.
QUOTE “Hi, I’m Conan O’Brien, and I’m just three days away from the biggest drinking binge in history.”
“Yesterday there were rallies for me in cities across the country, including Chicago. You can tell things are bad when even Cubs fans feel sorry for you.”
“It’s been a busy day for me today. I spent the afternoon at Universal Studios’ amusement park, enjoying their brand-new ride, the ‘Tunnel of Litigation.’”
“Some papers are reporting that I’m legally prohibited from saying anything bad about NBC. For example, I am NOT allowed to say things like: ‘NBC is headed downhill faster than a fat guy chasing a runaway cheese-wheel.’”
“But nobody said anything about speaking in Spanish. NBC esta manejado por hijos de cabras imbeciles que comen dinero y evacuan problemas.” (NBC is run by brainless sons of goats who eat money and crap trouble.)
“Some other stories in the press are saying that in the future I may not be able to retain what is known as my show’s ‘intellectual property.’ Isn’t it great to live in a country where a cigar-smoking dog puppet and a bear that masturbates are considered ‘intellectual property?’”
“I have to say, all of our problems with NBC really did sneak up on us quite suddenly. But I should have seen this coming. During the few months we’ve been doing this show, there were definitely things that should have tipped me off.”
“I’ll give you an example, check this out.”
(Cut to applause sign)
“There’s our applause sign…”
(Applause sign blinks)
“… but look at the sign below it…”
(Camera pans up to reveal sign that reads: ‘Humor him for 7 months.’)
All hail Conan.. fuck Leno.-------------------- ![]() |

I'm just enjoying the backlash Leno is getting over this. He's ruined, he really is.
He's done such a good job of creating such relationships and coming off as this clean cut comic. And now this happens, and everyone is revolting against him, while they back Conan. NBC execs must be close to having heart attacks right now. BTW, as much as I feel bad for Conan as I feel he was completely bullied out of his spot and was never given a fair shake. He is supposedly going to receive a 40 million dollar buy out from NBC which.... is quite the sum to say the least. -------------------- ![]() |

I guess he's trying to get more money for them which is why NBC still hasn't made an official announcement as of yet about his being let go. I really enjoyed this bit by Stern and Rosie from last week. Really says what kind of piece of shit Leno is. There's 2 parts to it, linked is part 1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ2fZH2XqNw...feature=related -------------------- ![]() |

Rosie brings up such a good point. Conan's lead in was Jays shitty show. It all started with that. People point at Conans ratings and wonder what happened... Jay happened. When you have a crappy lead in, there's not much you can do.
This was sabotaged from the get go. Instead of letting go of the reigns and letting Conan finally get the late night spot light, he had to go to 10 o'clock. So instead of the focus being on Conan filling in one of the most prestigious chairs in show business, most of the ads on NBC were for Jay moving to prime time. Conan was made an after thought because of Jays unwillingness to say goodbye and pass the torch. Carson is rolling over in his grave right now. Everyone is now starting to come to the realization that Leno is a scumbag. It's something that Stern found out a LONG time ago when Jay would steal his bits that he created years ago and not give him any credit for it. He'd change the name and call it his own, when in reality Stern was doing some of these things a decade before hand on his channel 9 show. Now it's coming out though. You're seeing comics like O'Donnell, Patton Oswalt and Jimmy Kimmel beat him up. Conan O'Brien has been backstabbed by him and NBC. Letterman has always hated him because of how he conducts himself off the stage. Leno has ruined himself. -------------------- ![]() |

I really don't get why people think Leno's hilarious. Especially people under the age of 60. He's just not funny. He has a couple decent bits but they're funny in part because he doesn't do anything but stand there and introduce them.
